How should we put our laptop into a bag (T400)?

Unlike other laptops, T400 with 6 cell battery protruding ~2cm out of its back side causes me not to easily put it into a bag normally (back side first, front side after) because in my opinion doing so may harm the battery.
So, what should I do? Reversing the direction or removing the battery when carrying my laptop in a bag? or there is another choice?

    Thanks!

Other laptops have batteries that stick out the back. Mine does.

It probably doesn't harm the battery but i put my T400 in my bag with the angled part of the battery going in first so it won't get stuck on the way down.

if the back side was flat then there should not be any problems. I mean, since the battery sticks out, it has to bear all the weight of the system (laptop+battery), therefore I wonder whether it would be physically damaged if we keep carrying the laptop like that over a long period of time

If it's not bend, IMO will be ok.

So we are free to do that without having to worry about any problems happening to the battery, right?
