Just out of curiosity, as I am thinking about purchasing a T400 (and the 10% discount recently passed as I was still researching different options), how often do these coupon codes come by? Are 10% coupons pretty regular? Or are there more, infrequent higher savings coupons?

They're almost in perpetuity, but depending on the configuration and other factors, you may pay a little more or less. You got a watch for a while so you'll know when it's low. XPBargains is good site if you want to see pricing history.

Do a little research on this site. There are numerous ways you can get an excellent deal on a thinkpad without the sole use of coupons.

I would recommend buying with the visa discount if you need the laptop now. Plus, they also have additional coupons on top of the discount, which makes it more or less the best deal for the rest of us.

As Zaz said. Coupons are frequent and they have various other non coupon sales as well that can be great. You need to wait, watch and price out various configs to get the best price. I priced out the machines for a few months till I got what I felt was the best deal.

Is this a decent deal? I'm still holding off for another 15% coupon to come around, or something stack-able to go on top of the current 10% discount, but for now I am wondering how this setup is for its price. I only included the 80gb HD and 1gb RAM because I want to swap those out with something more reliable, and perhaps even less expensive too, especially the HD.

Are these pretty typical prices for these specs? Or could I wait a few weeks/months and see something really good come by (like maybe another 15% coupon code)?

Really, since Black Friday / Cyber Monday are only a few weeks away, I would wait until then.

Visaperks is the best I've seen. It's around 35% off. I didn't go with it because I didn't discover the discount until my order was a week old. I got 30% off using other coupons and the regular Lenovo discounts. Pretty amazing deal really.

WOW I just looked up what Visaperks was all about, and then I saw that it was for Canada only =( I guess I'll just have to wait for some stackable coupons, or maybe some really amazing discount on Black Friday from Lenovo.
