I'm interested in seeing the price users have paid for their Thinkpad? Hopefully we'll hear from some users with the thinkpads from way back ^_^

Being that this is my 1st Thinkpad I paid $1290 for my T61 14.1 SXGA+

I paid close to $1,700.00 USD for my Thinkpad T61. Specs are:

    15.4" Lenovo T61P (/w Vista Ultimate)
    Intel Santa Rosa T7300
    Nvidia Quadro FX 570M
    2GB of RAM
    160 GB 7200 RPM HD

This is with the anniversary discounts and a college student discount.

This is my first Thinkpad, or even Lenovo branded Laptop as a matter of fact. I don't plan on it being my last though judging by the workmanship.

Past ThinkPads were much more expensive than current ThinkPads. I remember seeing a decently configured T40 for $2,000.

The X40 that I got for work many years ago, cost my employer the equivelant of 5,000 USD. This was in Europe where prices are generally much higher than in the US.

My first ThinkPad came with Windows 3.1. I don't remember the model off the top of my head--I think it was a 486. I paid about $2400 or $2500 for it.

There was a P133 in my life, but It might have been the Satellite I bought (because it had the Accu-point).

One of my later models was the TP 765L P166MMX 3GB 32MB 13.3TFT Win95 Value with ship date of 07/01/98. That's directly from the "Order Packer" that I saved here in my computer file. No price is shown.

But I do have a note from the research I did for my next ThinkPad, a 770, showing that CompUSA wanted $2730 for one with no CD or modem.

Need to look up my R30 and two T30's. I bought the R30 CTO, 1 T30 rebuilt, used it a long time--slipped on ice and landed on it, broke its latch and bezel so it wouldn't close and bought the second T30 used so I could switch hard drives.

My latest ThinkPad is an X61, Core2 Duo T7500 (2.2GHz), with 3GB RAM, 100GB 7200rpm HD, 8 cell battery, TP 802.11abg, SD Card reader, Fingerprint reader, Bluetooth and XP Pro... think I paid about $1550. I bought a Lenovo USB Super Multiburner w/Lightscribe to go with it for about $250.

486DX2--That'a what I had, but it ran Win3.1. I upgraded it to Win95 later when the rest of the office upgraded, but I would rather have had OS/2 Warp. I think Oscarine and I tie for oldest ThinkPad.

All purchased within the last year.

T40 $448 first online purchased laptop (overpaid)

T40 $350 got smarter wheeling and dealing.

    T42 $300
absolute mint condition. Dude's Dad gave it to him new and he rarely used it, for he was a Dell kinda guy. I almost wept when I opened it to inspect it. All I have done to upgrade is add 1 gig memory....The machine is my personal steal of the decade.

I am from the school, why pay close to retail when some of the not so old stuff is just as good. I would put my T42 up against any T60 and not be seriously outperformed.

I paid over $5000 for my first Thinkpad 7xx series (about ten years back) and about $3500 for my T40p.

There IS a plus side to the whole IBM-->Lenovo thing.

Assuming fatwallet and paypal both give me my cash back, I'll have paid $760 for an r61 15.4 2ghz core 2 80gb HD 1gb ram and quadro 140. I also upgraded the screen to WSXGA+ and splurged on 1 year on site service. This was also during that end of the year sale with the 13% coupon.

Surprisingly it would have cost me more to get XP on it, but going down to Vista basic saved me like $40.

If the cashback stuff falls through, it'll be $963.

If I could start over, I would choose the R61 w/ better specs than my T61.

That's right, join the R61 bandwagon and give it more recognition than it deserves!

    Lol.

I think so. I know that it is the first TP to have a Blu-ray drive as an option.

Well, just to show everyone how absurd the ThinkPad prices are over here in Sweden.

    I paid some 2500USD for a R52
    PM750, 1GB, 80GB 5400rpm, Btooth&Wlan, DVD R&W, ATI X300, 1400something resolution.

You bet I'm jealous when I read about all of you who land sweet T61 1500USD deals and whatnots....

wow.. the R52 now sells for under $300US, it's not that old, i still use it at work for the past few years. if it's expensive for you, how about using ebay?

Anyways, I picked my thinkpad almost 6 months ago for $750 CAD.

    Z61m (used): T7200 2.0Ghz 1GB Ram 120GB HD 15.4 WSXGA ATIx1400 DVDrw BT Fingerprint Reader ... Warranty to Jan 28, 2010 (sweet) in Canada

Got a spare x41 (used) for $475 CAD a few months back

Yeah, thing with e-bay would be the US keyboard and possible customs (Though next time around I'll probably hunt at e-bay, US keyboard or not). I bought my precious R52 2 years ago back when it was "top of the line". Don't get me started on the T43.

The top of the line R61 costs some 3000USD here IIRC. We also don't have the "config yourself" choice, but have to stick with the std. selection... *sigh*

    T43 - $1,415 - 7/05 (using now, love it)
    770Z - $1,675 - 10/00 (niece has it, going strong)
    365XD - $1,300 - 5/97 (gave it to sister in-law, now kaput)

A couple of Toshiba's should be listed next including the T1000. Then a Satellite with a color screen (man, I was liv'n large then).
