Am I the only one who likes the smaller T61P while ignoring the extra 128mb from the videocard?

    Intel T9300
Vista Basic (Still thinking if I should get XP or Vista Ultimate. Can get them for cheap from school)
14.1" (you guys know the rest)
2x 1GB Ram (didn't get the option for 1GB, but can get 4GB for cheap)
    Trackpoint with Fingerprint
    80GB HDD 5400 (have a 200GB 7200rpm Hitachi waiting)
8x Dual Layer bla bla bla
PC cardslot with media thingy. (does anyone knows if it's cardbus or not?)
    AGN wireless
    9 cell battery

I think the 14.1" T61p is not as popular as one might imagine because it is only available with a standard screen and the trend these days has been towards widescreen.

I'm just so used to the traditional 14.1 thinkpads and saw a classmate using the 15" widescreen, which are huge!

that and the fact the 14" 570m is crippled further by a 64-bit bus. this is the only reason i went for the 15.4" model.

LOL was disappointed at the 3dmark06 score. With stock driver, I got 2120.

I deleted the misplaced post(Newsbit) and following comments to clean up the thread. If you want to talk about the item in the Newsbit, post them here

    Thx

I do as well. I usually go for more performance but I didn't want the extra pounds. The 570m is already much better than my previous laptop's geforce 7400. I wanted a small laptop that doesn't take up too much space wherever I am working (although i rarely work lol).

I never deleted your post...I deleted the duplicate "news bit" post and five other posts that were replies to the "New bit" post(none of those five post were from you).

Are you sure you posted it in this thread?

If you are sure, then its probably a server error...

Any of you guys have a Penryn, specifically the T9300 and have any kind of high pitch sounds?

Blessed man. Do you think you can put your head to the keyboard and listen for it? Maybe your room isn't as quiet as mine?

While I know people own 14" T61ps, they haven't been the most vocal group. From what I've heard from bits and pieces anecdotal evidence on the forum, the older 14" T61p with the Merom processors could only scrap 2:30 hrs battery life with the 6 cell.

Can anyone with their new Penryn toys corroborate an increase in battery life?

    These are with the 9-Cell.

    High Perfomance- 2.5-4 hours.
Energy Star- 3.5-5 hours. This is what I use around school.

I only charge my laptop when I'm at home. Each night looking at how much battery was left, there were around 40%.

Does anyone know the exact weight difference between the 14.1" and 15.4" models? I'm going to buy a T61P before the sale expires today, but am debating which one to get.

My only concern is carrying the 15" one through an airport, which I'll have to do a few times a month.

Edit: Just found these statistics from Lenovo:

    Travel weight with optical drive11
    14.1" standard:
    6 cell: 5.24 lb (2.38kg)
    9 cell: 5.56 lb (2.52kg)
    15.4" widescreeen:
    6 cell: 5.94 lb (2.69kg)
    9 cell: 6.26 lb (2.84kg)

Is there any way there is less than a 1 pound difference? This doesn't seem right to me.

Thanks for the info XyKo. So I guess that translates to a battery life of around 3 hrs 20min for the best case scenario with a 6 cell...

Guess I'll be passing on the 14" T61p for the time being then... >_<
