Like the title says, how many of you use non-system specific ram?

For example, using a memory search by Kingston websites gives me this result:
    1GB for a Thinkpad T43 is part #KTM-TP3840/1G (~$175) Link

    whereas

    Newegg has this Kingston ram:
    1GB for this part #KVR533D2S4/1G (~$106) Link
if you search this part #, it's actually for Acer, Clevo, and FIC notebooks Link

and a customer claims that it's working well with his T43 (from the reviews). A difference of $50+ makes this RAM look very appealing.

If you are using non-system specific RAM for your Thinkpad, could you post up a brand and/or link/part# of your RAM that's working well?

    TIA

I put a 1GB stick of Kingston memory in my T42. Works good.

So basically as long as it's the same number of pins, the right speed, and a compatible capacity, then it should work?

A lot of times you can use faster memory as long as it is the same size, but it will run at the lower speed.
