I am interested to know, how long can a X200/X200s 6-cell battery last--how many cycles before it is hardly useful, i.e. holds little charge?
Also, what about a 4-cell?
-
that would really depend on the battery cell brand, how you use it, how often you use it, the charge and discharge behaviour.... usually it is between 300 to 600 cycles. But that is only a ball park figure.

I have two Lenovo-made, I don't use it that frequently, certainly not every day. I'm not sure if I should keep them both. If one can last 2-3 years, then I shouldn't need two.
P.S. another question: Between a refurbed Lenovo battery and a brand new "replacement" battery, which is better? -
Definitely depends on how you use it. Mine has gone through 500+ cycles, 3 years in operation, and still store 90% of the original charge.

Thanks, good to know.

Lenovo doesn't make batteries per se, these are contracted out to Contract manufacturers. There are several companies that make battery cells (you can find out from the Thinkvantage Power Manager under battery information), Panasonic, Sony, Sanyo and LG in some X20x models.
If you don't use the battery frequently, then there is no point keeping both. -
What about cell manufacturers, which are the best ones?
-
Panasonic is the best.

Seconded. Mine is Panasonic.
How many cycles can 6-cell x200s battery go through?
