I've had W510 for a week. I found the fan noise is always louder than I expect. I have T400 and 13' Macbook pro. W510 is louder than them even when idle. The fan works continuously and makes "very audible" noise.

I tried to set the fan to "Reduce Noise dynamically". It lowered the speed of fan but several seconds later it remains nearly the same level of noise.

W510 owners, are you satisfy with the fan noise? How is it like compared to other Thinkpad laptops you've used?

If it's just my laptop, I 'll call for a repair. I don't like hearing fan noise :(

    Thank you.

Try using HWMonitor to check your temperatures, and if they are low enough, you can try using TPFanControl to adjust your fan speeds lower if necessary.
