My T61 is supposedly waiting for me at home. I have to budget my time, though. How long is that bad boy supposed to fully charge before use? Who has the manual, or knows off hand?

    Thanks

Plug it in and start using it. Just dont unplug it till it has stopped charging. Might be 1-3 hours depending on what the level is.

I think mine took a good 2 1/2hrs with the 9-cell battery and 65W AC adapter.

Is it better to discharge the new batt before I charge it to full capacity or charge it straight out from the box?

there are alot of opinions on this matter, i personally let the battery die completely and then plugged it in to charge till it hit 100. then i unplugged it, let it drain down and charged it again. I repeated this step 3 times.

Charge it fully, and then after 5-10 cycles initiate the battery calibration so your battery gauge is set correctly.
