I'm considering getting an x60 tablet.
The standard depot warranty for 3 years costs around $100. After that, each year adds another $100.
This worries me. Are they expecting the laptop to fail after 3 years ?
Also, for a tablet, do you guys recommend getting the completecare package ?

Don't use warranty pricing to judge whether they think the machine is poor quality, etc.
It's just that the older a laptop is, the more expensive additional warranty coverage is going to cost. This is just the nature of the industry, even high quality parts.
It's the same thing with cars; you can get the best car ever made but you might still only have a 5 year/100,000 mile warranty on it. It doesn't mean they think it's definitely going to fail after that, but because industry averages show that to be around the time something is likely to start to fail/go wrong. -
The 3 year is actually more of a standardized thing. If you go to your local Best Buy the extended warranty ranges from 1 to 3 years as well.

Actually I made a mistake.
Linovo only offers a 3 year warranty on the x60 tablet.
For 4 years, it has to be bundled with completecare.
There is no 5 year option. -
I won't worry about what's happening 3 years later. After 3 yr, you won't want to use it at all.
complete care is a good thing to have. buy 3yr warranty + complete care. use your credit card, usually they will double the manufacture warranty. -

Just saw it
it seems that you know all that I know.
How long should I expect an X60 tablet to last ?
