Some of you may have the experience: if you call up the tech support for screen bleeding problem, they will ask you to send it in and change the screen for you, right? How long does it take for you to get back your fixed laptop? also, can you remove the HDD before sending it in?

You are allowed to take out the HDD before sending it, but confirm before doing so.

One of the best things about Thinkpads are that every major part is user accessible without voiding warranty- in fact they encourage tech co. to service their own wares.

But Swaping out LCD is the harder of them.

maybe.   whether the display gets changed depends on if service determines your screen is vastly out of spec.

I would encourage you to pull the drive.

I found that both the top and the bottom of my screen have heavy bleeding. If I walk toward my laptop from either side, I can clearly see the top and bottom of the screen are brightly lighted like light sources. It looks terrible. However I'm not sure if it worths to send in for fixing/replacement. Who knows if the tech may mess up some parts that are good--as you all seem to imply, swapping the screen seems to be a major task.

Thanks. That will save me the task of erasing files etc. if I do send it in.
