How long did your T60 take to ship

Ok thats the question‚

 

ordered on feb. 6th, shipped on feb. 22nd, delivered on feb. 26th. original estimate was march 2nd shipping, which didn't change until it told me it was shipped.

 

My T60p was pre-configured so it took a lot less time than a custom order from Lenovo. It took 3 days from the order date to ship and 6 more to get here from Hong Kong, which included a Food & Drug Administration inspection delay in Lexington, Kentucky.

 

Why do the Thinkpads come from Hong Kong?

 

I have no idea, but that's what came up first on the shipment tracking.

 

I ordered mine last Friday (03/23) from Lenovo. Despite a little problem with my credit card company (they "erased" my second shipping address --so I lost a day there), Lenovo sent me an email today indicating that they just shipped my order (including UPS tracking #)

...oh, this one also comes from HK

 

2 days for my T60 with 14.1" screen

 

I ordered mine Feb. 4 and it shipped March 3.

 

Right, I forgot to mention mine is a CTO. They come from Hong Kong, preconfigured or not, because that's where they're built. The preconfigured ones just don't require build time and aren't affected by parts shortages.

 

Well, also, Lenovo is a Chinese company...

 

As everybody else said, they all come from Hong Kong, and generally take a few weeks for building if it is a CTO and then only a few days for actual transit. I ordered mine as a CTO in around the same time frame as chaosrl.

Hi Jano! No, you don't need to do anything. Once they run it by the dog sniffers it'll be on it's way. I got an "exception" when I tracked mine that indicated that it would be a day late, prolly cuz of the FDA or USDA, but it actually arrived on the original date set forth on the shipment tracking notification.

I ordered my T60 (CTO) on 3/22. It was shipped on 3/24 and I got it on 3/29.

 

Ordered my t60 8743CTO on 3/28, shipped out on 3/31. Currently stuck in the infamous Louisville customs stop, but scheduled to arrive now on 4/3.

 

did you all have to sign for it in person?? mine says its been shipped from shanghai, express delivery on 4/03, UPS.

 

Yes. Nobody was home when mine was delivered, so they left a note telling me when they'd be there next, which was the next day at about the same time. I ended up calling the UPS Hub (about 30 minutes away) and I asked if they could hold it for pick up the next day. The lady I spoke to told me that the truck had actually already come in, so I could go pick it up that day, which I did.

 

Well, after a busy day at work yesterday I finally opened the box at home. I love my new laptop!!...I actually had them ship it to my office so I guess somebody in the mailroom signed the receipt for me...

 

Congrats on your purchase! I'm glad you like it so far. Nice of them to sign the receipt; I HATE having to wait extra days for things I order.

well, my x60 is here and wow, im likey likey it nice nice. im typin on it right now, and i must say, this thing is seriously sweet. got the finger security workin, checked out what "crapware" i had to delete, and i didnt see anything that was necessary. only thing i notice is that the windows sticker on the bottom of the lappy has a hole in it, AGAIN!!! just like my compaq. dunno if the heat made it, or what, but so far im 2 for 2. funny getting used to no touchpad, but the "thirdeye" does the trick quite nicely. the build is surely nice, alon with the portability, its tiny. mine still says "IBM thinkpad" in the lower right and on the cover. took exactly 1 day to ship. was sent out yesterday, got to me today, wow..... my lil bro signed for it luckily, so i didnt have to go get it from UPS or wait for them tomorrow. hope the new owners like their new toy, i sure do so far.

 

the hole is to verify that it is authentic. My T60 WS and my friend's X60 and my friend's FRIEND's T60p (non-widescreen), all 3 of ours have the same thing.

I admit that the X60 is amazing. It is SO thin and SO light. Having a full sized keyboard is definately a plus. I just dont think I would get used to non-widescreen again, not even including the 1024x768 resolution after having a 21" LCD and a 15.4" 1680x1050 screens ... lack of a touchpad is a bummer but i'm sure most users would get used to it fairly easily. One thing I did notice on my friend's X60 was that the HDD got kinda warm rather quick (IHe got the biggest, I think 120 or 160 5400RPM)

 

Man, you all are lucky...I ordered mine March 24, and it still has yet to ship out...

 

Ordered march 21st, custom t60p. Received march 27th. I was very, very impressed with that.

 

I think right now is their dead time, when notebook sales tend to drop and thus why the sales are starting to pop up so that they can get rid of their older models to make room for the X61s/T61s. They should be able to ship out very quickly during this time period.

 

i hope no one misunderstands me. i ordered my x60 on 3/22. the surprising thing is that it took 1 day to go from point of origin, lenovo, to my house.

Hey man, I feel your pain...ordered 3/24, est. ship 4/12 and has yet to ship out.... I'm thinking that our systems must have some odd little part that lenovo is out of stock of currently that is holding up our systems... That being said, the only thing our systems have in common is the lcd and dvd burner...

EDIT: After further looking at yours, the # on your lcd is different, but the # on the dvd burner is the same...maybe that's holding our systems up?

Gah I ordered my laptop yesterday, 4/4, and its estimated to ship on the 18th. Which isn't as bad as some of you guys but i'm gonna miss it for april vaca.

 

cvec7, maybe you guys ordered different screens? I dont quite remember now, but i'm sure there are several different options in terms of screens for resolutions. But regardless, if your configurations are the same except for the screen then that is the sole reason, other factors not considering, that it is being delayed?

I think we ordered the same one, WSXGA+. All I had the option for was WXGA or WSXGA+.
Also, I can't see which screen/keyboard I got until I get it and get the serial number of the notebook, right? I've looked otherwise, and it points to a samsung lcd, but everyone says I can't tell until I get the serial # of my notebook. But I def. plan to see exactly what components I got when I receive it.
Actually, I was saying ours were entirely different almost. At first glimpse, the screens were the same, but they're not. What is the same is GPU, keyboard, touchpad, bluetooth, and like maybe some of the stickers and stuff.

 

Well, I spoke to a rep today, and he informed me that what is holding it up is the WSXGA+ screen. He said they do have a shortage on the "+" screens, but their supply on the WSXGA screens is plenty. Which explains why some of you who have ordered the same notebook (8743CTO) after me, have gotten yours already.

I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something stupid like the "Designed for Windows Vista" sticker that was holding it up, haha.

 

my t60 that i mentioned before is estimated to ship april 24th...
i ordered it on the 5th..
I guess they're short on 100gb 7200rpm hdds?
or WSXGA+ may be really in short supply
who knows

 

Ordered mine on 3/22. Credit card problems and ATI shortage caused delays. Called today and it shipped out on 4/5. Should be here on 4/9, (hopefully) so the shipping wasn't that bad. Total was $1200 after shipping--looked up the parts and I think I got the LG screen and the Alps keyboard

Did any of you do two day shipping? Or did you all do standard ground?
I did two-day because that's all I could do for Alaska.
I ask because I don't think anyone's notebook took two days to ship, so I'm hoping you all chose ground, so that my 2-day shipping I paid for will, in-fact be two days...

 

Mine is ground shipping.. I think my order is lost in the system. I think my estimated ship date will still be 4/10 will May rolls around. Macbook pro seems to be calling my name!

Ordered my t60p on 3/31 and I checked this morning and it shipped today (4/8), looks like even with ground it is estimated to deliver by 4/10. Not bad at all.

I got a 8743CT with T7200 Core 2 Duo and 2gb RAM (2 Dimms), 100GB 7200 rpm HD. Looks like I got the ALPS keyboard and the LG Screen. Can't complain about that.

coming from Honkong and expected delivery date is 4/10.
