Hello. I've been looking at the T61p and like what I see. However I am not sure if the battery life for the 6 cell battery is enough for me. lenovo is apparently not selling the 9 series battery now (since the fire at the factory and perhaps the new models comming up). The forthcomming T400 and T500 have phenomenal estimated battery life and that makes me wonder if I should aim to buy one of those instead. In all of this fretting, I have come across reference to the T61 and T61p offering an optional battery to plug into the UltraBay.
1. What kind of extra juice can I get out of the UltraBay battery? Lenovo's spec sheet PDF lists a combined battery life of 6hours. 2 hours come from the UltraBay and 3.9 from the 6cell system battery. I know the T61p in practice gets nowhere near 3.9 hours on the 6 cell battery. So what battery life have people actually seen?
2. Does it have to be treated like a normal Lion battery? Ie keep it cool, store for long periods of time at 40% charge, buy with a recent date of manufacture, etc?
3. Where can I buy if from? Lenovo has none, Ebay came up empty, and Google only gave me a European site for it. For that matter, what's a decent price.
Thanks

They tend to be optimistic when estimating battery life. The ultrabay battery always discharges first so it wears out quickly. I had it for my R60. It was at 40% after five months of usage. I decided to get the nine cell when my main battery started to go. The part number for the battery is 40Y6789. You can look on eBay or Pricegrabber if you want.
How good is the UltraBay Battery on the T61p and where can I find one?
