Thinking of getting the y580 1080p, but the only thing holding me back is the glossy screen.

Is it super-duper glossy, or just a little glossy?

From my experience, the 1080p screen is very reflective. It's has a really nice display though.

Seems about as glossy as your typical glossy laptop display. Shouldn't be a problem so long as you're not in direct sunlight or something like that that would cause glare.

I'm coming from a matte Lenovo SL400 screen.
I might need to use Y500 in a class setting with windows nearby (2-4 feet away).
How bad is the glossy going to be?

Always had matte screens before. It is glossy; to me far too glossy. I prefer non-glossy, but am slowly getting used to it; most times I use an external display as the main display.

Yes, it has a very glossy screen. It bothers me a bit when I'm using it in the office in the afternoon with the sun coming through the window behind the computer desk. I turn up the brightness or I take the laptop to another room.

I'm aiming to replace the screen in that case.
AUO B156HW01 V.4 is my first pick (97% Gamut of Adobe RGB)
Only problem is, the only NBR person so far who has done it says he lost brightness control on his Y580 :(
It would jump from full bright to full dull.
I can live with that though :)
