    Hi,

I plan on buying a X220 through a student deal on a website. The laptop would come with a 3 or 4 years on site warranty (some have the mention NBD, don't know what this means). How does the warranty work? If it is on-site, I guess I have to bring the laptop at a desk at my school? What if I'm over with the studies before the warranty ends...or if I move abroad? Where should I bring the laptop then?

    Thanks

NBD is next business day. normally they will arrange a time for your home as a student/home user to do the repair ( not sure if they will hunt you down in class ). for busineses they seem to be good with either a work OR home location.

if you move abroad you call them up and they will dispatch a tech to your location if one is close and arrange a time/place to do the work. if there is no service tech or location near by you MAY have to ship it off for a couple days but I have yet to have this personally

they'll ask you where the system is and dispatch a technician there. if meeting at home is not convenient they'll come to your school.

    NBD: Next business day

All X220 and T420 models have 'IWS' which means International Warranty Service. This s hould mean it's covered in most countries. I'm guessing you have basic warranty (so no 'onsite'), in that case there is a number on the Lenovo site you can call (800-55-5454 for Switserland)

My guess is they will point you to the nearest certified Lenovo center (which might be your desk at school)

Does any one know if it is possible to change the 'location' of the warranty in case you move to another country? If yes, how?
