I have heard of it many times, but never tried it. Now I am interested in possibly buying my first Thinkpad. I am budget minded and just wanted to make everything goes right.

I registered at AMEX site. I searched for Lenovo and found it. On the Lenovo page, there is a button called GO SHOPPING ONLINE. Clicking on it leads me to the Lenovo website.

Do I have click this button to get TailorMade discount?

On the Lenovo's website, if I check out and pay by using registered AMEX card, will I immediately see the TailorMade discount reflected on the total? Or I will see the disount on my next AMEX bill?

    Thanks for your help!

    Rds,
    David

There is already a ton of info here to search as well as reading the Tailormade site...you can even call them to clarify your questions.

You wont see the rebate immediately, and how could you? Lenovo wont charge your AMEX until its shipped.

    It works like this...

Step 1: Use one of these AMEX cards:
    http://www201.americanexpress.com/apply/Fmacfservlet?csi=0/20/b/2/1380747639/138113816570/0/n

Step 2: Sign up for Tailormade here:
    https://www142.americanexpress.com/tailormade/cmenrollStep1.do?s=23

Step 3: Use the AMEX card to purchase your Lenovo laptop.

Discount will be automatic, but you will not see it until you get your credit card statement.

EDIT: ...you will not see it until you get your credit card statement or you view your AMEX account online after the purchase has been applied to the card. Geeze!!

The last one definitely contradicts my experience.

I saw my cashback on my card a few days after the card was charged(not just holds). I have also used Tailormade program at some other stores, and all the same.

I just meant that you will not see the discount until the purchase has been applied to the card. My first post now edited!

I called American Express customer service to inquire about the Tailormade discount. I was told by the CS rep that the Tailormade program is by invitation only. Only certain cardholders get invited to the program.

Now, if I go to www.americanexpress.com I don't see any mention of Tailormade. To me, this confirms that the program is by invitation to select customers.

But what about the Tailormade sign-up page at: https://www142.americanexpress.com/tailormade/cmenrollStep1.do?s=23 ?

I've read several posts (on slickdeals.net) where cardholders that weren't invited to the program have successfully signed up for Tailormade, and I assume the same has happened with people on this forum. It seems that those who weren't invited to the program and signed up took a backdoor into the Tailormade program. Is it possible that while one can sign up for the program uninvited, their Lenovo discount will be denied by American Express?

who knows, just do it. My AMEX rep said, "go to the tailormade site and sign up there, and you can call them to ask questions"

I signed up, and then called Tailormade to verify my account before ordering. No problme, and no invitation.
