How do YOU use the little red IBM nipple in the middle of the keyboard? Do you use your pointer finger on one hand and the press the buttons with your other hand? Do you manipulate the nipple and mouse click buttons with one hand?! Do you use the top or the bottom buttons? Whats YOUR preferred way? I can't seem to take too much of a liking too it, but haven't really tried much.

you use your pointer finger on whichever hand you like...

Once you get used to it, there's no going back.

I also recommend you change the one they put there with the rounded one (it has a non slippery surface)

Yes! The thumb to hit the mouse buttons is a good idea.

Actually before I even turned my thinkpad on for the first time I put the "classic" nipple on there. I never owned a thinkpad before but its the one I remember from my youth, trying out the thinkpads at radioshack as a kid. :D

typically, nipples are used by tugging on them - ideally, with one's teeth - LoL, j/k :p

Usually, people either use their index finger or one next to it - in terms of the buttons, your thumb should suffice :)

I've used my index finger to control it, and thumb to click both right and left clicks, it seems to be set up to be used that way as it's the most comfortable way to use it, and I've gotten TONS of headshots in counter strike source using it like that :D

How do you change it from one type to another? Do you just replace the red tip, or replace the whole assembly (which I guess is the red tip plus the plastic piece underneath it).

Is the thinkpad designed to allow you to replace just the red tip if it comes off for some reason?

My gf calls it the clit, which I guess is more appropriate :)

I use my right index finger, right thumb for the buttons. I've also set the top-left corner of the touchpad to be "Back" in a browser.. very helpful and easy to hit with the thumb.

I didn't get any other clit tips :( Where can I buy these? Preferrably locally since it's probably not worth to ship them.

You can actually buy them off ebay for a few bucks including shipping. Try checking your thinkpad box again if you still have it, they come in a little 1"x2" ziplock bag.

    I use my tongue :p

    Oh wait, not that nipple...

I just use my right index finger and right thumb, kinda like the touch pad.

I know where you got the term nipple from, wiki right :)

No actually, one night I was telling a buddy of mine that I had ordered a Lenovo thinkpad. He said, "Wait.. Please tell me you made sure to get one with little red nipple?"

    :p

I actually use only my pointer and ring finger for the touch pad, is that abormal lol?

Not sure how much Lenovo charges for shipping, but they have the best deal with 2x of each cap for 9.99. Most places on eBay are selling them for 2 - 3 dollars a nipple. So about $1.60 per nipple buying direct.

But yah, if you bought a new ThinkPad, you should get one of each (3 total).

Well guys I think I've finally gotten comfortable with the nipple. I've been using it for the day and I am actually starting to like it. Can't say I like it more then the pad though..

The pad has just always been there for me. I've really gotten to know my way around it like the back of my hand. I guess you can say that over the years, rubbing the pad has just become second nature to me. I'll keep on using the nipple to see if I can grow as fond of it some people say they are, but I don't know if I'll ever be able to reject the pad.

Start off with slow gentle circles around it... gradually get a little more rough. This applies to either the nipple tip or the clit mouse.

hi guys, does the trackpoint cause a mark on the lcd when the lid is closed and pressure is applied? i removed my trackpoint as i've seen a 'scar' caused by trackpoint on my friend's T43.

Sadly, as a young non-IBM computer user, I never got enough of the nipple.
NOW I can hardly control my excitement.

I think the nipple was one of the most intuitive pointer designs ever. Even though i use a VX revolution for the majority of my pointer needs, the red dot is irreplaceable, let alone convenient whilst typing. Its always so hard to adjust when I switch laptop brands. Long live the red nipple!!

I'm getting addicted to the nipple. For the first week or so, I never really gave it a try. But after sort of forcing myself to use it almost exclusively for a day, I find I like it a lot and have to have it. It's fast yet good fine control.

The combination of trackpad, trackpoint, and shortcut keys is very good when a mouse isn't an option.
