Although I live in California, I was supposedly covered by the warranty because the t400 I got is for business use.

But the online warranty status says that I only have the 1 year base warranty.

Is there some registration I need to do to activate the extended warranty (3 year on site + accidental).

Just wait till your 1 year is almost over and than upgrade it to a 2 year onsite + accidental. You can only upgrade once

no, you don't need to activate..

just that if you check the warranty status on lenovo site, it might only say 1 year (or whatever)

give it a couple weeks, and it should update to exteneded warranty, if you bought it..
