Hi, i am selling my ideapad 510 and want to do a secure format, i have since added a 500gb crucial SSD as my main drive but it was copied from my original drive.

When i got my laptop it had windows 7 on it and then i got windows 10 free, i am not sure if when i got windows 10 free that would have added the windows 10 product key into the bios so that if i reinstalled windows 10 it would auto pick the key up?

I was thinking of maybe just using a normal windows 10 installation disc rather than the laptops installation boot setup, or would i be best just using that?

Is there any particular software anyone would recommend to do a secure format and avoid formatting the partitions that that contain the setup files?

    thanks

    James
