I have a lenovo thinkpad with a fingerprint reader. Is it possible to use the reader to protect documents?

For example : Opening a certain word document prompts me to dialog box that asks me to swipe my finger.

    thanks.

They used to have software that let you exchange fingerprints for passwords in Windows apps. Then you just swiped your finger to fill out the info. That would work with a password protected word document.

Well... I don't remember if it was just web forms or any password screen.

I use Protector Suite 2011 instead of the Lenovo stuff. It's put out by the maker of the reader (Upek) and does everything you'd expect to do with a reader cleanly and easily like system login, webpages, files/folders, etc.

Don't bother. That would indeed look cool, but you're much better off simply using something like TrueCrypt to protect your documents.
