When I go to Sound Properties ->Click on Audio Tab->I click on Volume (under the Sound Recording field). I does not allow me to check the Mute field, shaded out?

    Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

you can always mute the mic source by clicking on the "volume" tab in the sound recording field, and turn the volume down to the lowest (mute). that's it.

    Got it thanks.

Anyone know why the Mute check box is shaded out and cannot be checked?

Okay, I put down the volume. But it goes up automatically when I return to view the settings.

    What gives?

Don't know why a simple thing as turing off the Mic can be so difficult?
