    Hello all,

I'm trying to find a t61p with a late manufacturing date, as I have heard they dont have the legendary nVidia problem (I think I am looking for mfg date later than August 2008). Is there a way to date this system:

(Copy/paste from Lenovo Support - Home (US))

    Cheers!

It should be on the bottom sticker, right after the serial number. My X220i say 11/05, which means it was made in May of 2011.

    Yeah that's right. My T61p is 07/10.

Not sure though about your assumptions about the nvidia problem though (mine's fine, but I don't think any of them were really safe?).

T61p and I believe D630 received revised Nvidia chips, but TBH given you can get a refurb T420 with HD+ screen for under 500 bucks, it will blow away a T61p in terms of performance. So even if your T61p fails, no matter just buy a new ThinkPad..

All the coupons have disappeared from the Lenovo Outlet.
Now the prices for Refurbished models are higher than buying brand new :/
(Unless they're in process of upgrading their coupons?)

Interesting! So even the ones made before august 2008 should be OK then? Or at least as OK as the ones made after... ;)

And thanks everyone for your input - much appruciated!

No I believe FRU motherboards after 8/08 received revised chips.

Just to make sure: First number is month, then it's year, as in Mo/Yr, right?

First, you buy some flowers that you will give it when you pick it up. Then take it out to a nice French restaurant followed by movie or dancing.
