To check on the LCD Panel, go here IBM/Lenovo Parts Lookup type in the required information and report back on the number and panel information located there. For the two screws...I'm not too sure, I never used them.

Next step then is to run PC Wizard 2008. My T400 came with the LG LED Panel which has the model number LP141WP2-TLB1. Not sure what the Samsubg LED is or the CCFL panel, others may help you there. But PC Wizard will be a start.

Yes, go to the lenovo site and look up your machine type. Do this in IE. When you go to the link (see below) go to the link that says "how do I find my type" and run the little thing that finds the type you machine is. Then put the numbers in the search field. When you get the display part number simply google it. If you don't see any matches to discussions (probably in this forum) concerning whether its an LG or a Samsung then you probably don't have the LED backlit screen. This was an extra feature that cost around $80. You could also get Lenovo to send you a detailed bill via email. It should say on there. Also, I think the LED has much better viewing angles. So, if you have pretty limited viewing angles then you don't have an LED. Go to http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/s...=/partslookup/partsLookup.vm&sitestyle=lenovo .

not sure if it applies to all screens or if its just me but with an LED screen. i see the image instantly come on mean the screen light at with no fade in or brightness change. while a ccfl lamp takes a fraction of a second to reach full brightness and the image will quickly fade like like coming back from commercial on a tv show. lol maybe its just me, but I noticed the instant change with i saw the t400 LED for the first time and still do every time I see one.

oh.... and for anyone who's keeping up..... THIS IS MY 100th POST YEAH!!!! lol

I did that and i put screen information in a google and theres was a LED screen. Viewing angels are great only in vertical, not horizontal.

I think you have that backwards. Viewing angles on TN panels tend to be great on the horizontal axis (left/right) but horrible on the vertical axis (above/below). This is a common problem of almost all LCDs that are not IPS or similar (e.g. the x200 Tablet, or the T60P Flexview).

I think OS( Vista, XP ) dont know such thing, some hardware program knows that better! If you mean that.
But i have a question, its stupid but i want to know. Under the laptop has some lenovo manufacture stickers(with black background and grey color words) and my laptop stickers were glued little bit awry, I say about 3 or 4 degree. Is that normal? Is there somebody who has stickers too little bit awry?

If you have the laptop on hand, the easiest way to tell is by looking at the screen and noticing that it is 3 times brighter than a standard LCD, so bright that it is actually visible outside. Imagine that. :p

You can look up the model number of that laptop and find out if it has an LED from the factory. Device manager should also work as stated.

Hello, my question is, why would one want that bright screen? Isn't the regular, non backlight LED screen bright enough? It's not "the brighter, the better" for the eyes, is it? If you stare at the sun for too long your eyes can be damaged. So why this backlight LED thing?

Vaw, the idea is that you run the LED screen at 50%-60% brightness and get fantastic battery life. Unfortunately, the Samsung LED that came on my T400 is marginally brighter than a CCFL screen and has a pinkish tint to it.

Slugur, I see, thanks. This sounds nice, but only provided it doesn't cause undesirable results, such as eye strains or headaches.
