Hi, I just get my new T61 with Vista Business. As I am new both to the ThinkPad family as well as to Vista O/S, I spent a long time and still couldn't find a way to adjust the color/brightness/contrast of the display. Appreciate if anyone can advise me how to do it !

Also, my T61 came with the NVS 140 display card. How can I confirm this ?

everything should be under your display properties in the advance settings part. to confirm that you have the nvs card you can look under system then device manager.
another question you, what are ur specs of your t61 and how long did it take to ship?

1.) You can adjust brightness by using the fn and home/end keys.
2.) You should be able ot adjust color and and contrast in the display properties / nVidia control panel.
3.) look in device manager to see what kind of card you have.

This is a question I would like to have answered as well. Considering all of vespoli's suggestions, shouldn't there be a hardware adjustment for the LCD monitor, like in standalone LCD monitors?

I don't think I've ever seen a laptop with hardware control for anything other than brightness.

I second speedy, to my knowledge I do not know of any laptop that features any other hardware adjustment other than brightness. Everything else is adjusted via software.

Thank you All for the info.

I'm able to adjust brightness with the fn/home/end keys but that's all I can do. By going to the "display settings" then "advance settings", a "(default Monitor) and Standard VGA Graphic Adapter Properties" window popped up. In which under "Adapter Information" it showed "Chip Type: NVIDIA.... Total Available Graphic Memory: 14 MB..." However, I can't find the nVidia control panel and no button or any for color/conttrast adjustment. Any T61/Nvidia user has the same setting?

To answer am6eric9a 's question, my T61's specs are T7300/ 14.1WXGA+ / 120GB HD/ 1GB RAM/ 1GB Turbo Mem / DVD Burner / BT / Wireless abgN / 6 cellw 3yr Wty (Product Code 7664-16U). As I couldn't wait for 3-4wks (checked with Lenovo), I took the risk and bought it from eBay seller for immediate delivery !!!

Perhaps Lenovo stripped the nVidia Control Panel from their drivers. You can try the "hacked" versions here, which are essentially notebook drivers from other manufacturers that have been modified to work universally: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/

just right click on your desktop and select the Nvidia Control panel. Its limited compared to my past XP machines with Nvidia cards, but im sure this will improve over time.

I have "adobe gamma" and "Intel GMA Driver" with my Desktop PC with XP O/S.

But I can't find anything like that now in my T61 w/Vista. ????????

I finally got it fixed. I presume the unit came with the nVidia NV140 (confirm by the product code) so I performed a "system restore" to get back what originally was. After restoration, it was confirmed that the nVidia driver was not there. But when I then connect into internet to retrieve Updates from Windows, the nVidia NV140 driver was at that time being downloaded and installed. Now I can see the "NVIDIA Control Panel" within Vista's Control Panel and I can adjust color/contrast/gamma for my display....Just want to share this info with those new comer to T61 who encountered the same problem.
