buy/sell for the most part. I'll keep my W500 for a while, and once a new X series tablet comes out I'll sell my X61 and get that.
the SL400 is gone and I sent the T500 in to get fixed. i also don't have anything that rare/"good", they are all fairly common. the W500 build date is recent (10/05) so maybe that counts for something.

I took the chance to take a pic of my very own Thinkpad burger!

Here's the filling on my burger from top to bottom :p

    T420
    T410
    W500
    T43
    T400
    T60p
    T60p
    W701

I included both regular and W701 power bricks in the pic to illustrate how big the monster power pack is

Also typing this on a new W520 that I just got a couple weeks ago.. and also another T400 that the missus uses is missing from the family photo lol

    that is an expensive collection.

I got a W700ds couple of months back to complement my W701ds. They are a great machine.

I like the W701 too, but I find that the keyboard has more flex than in the other models from the same generation (and before). It's got several unique features though (2 HDD bays + Ultrabay, for one) and a GREAT screen.

    Isn't the W700ds and W701ds keyboard interchangable?

I was looking at a W701DS when I was looking for a 17" DTR laptop, they were still over 2000 dollars used..

They might be interchangeable, since the W701 didn't get the same enlarged Delete and Esc keys that the T410 and W510 received in that generation. I'll probably live with it though.

Yes, the W701 was pretty costly, especially with that processor. It's a pretty unique collectible though!

God bless all of you, I'd be just plain scared to put all of my ThinkPads on top of each other, my luck they'd end up flying and landing in pieces within 10 seconds...

    Very interesting thread, nevertheless...

Considering that I have dropped my W520 hard a few times without harm, I'm sure stacking a dozen or so on each other poses no threat! :)

    Au contraire...

FlexViews develop pressure marks easily and break even easier and all of my ThinkPads apart from 701C/T400/Z61m are IPS/AFFS units...not to mention that there's more than a dozen of them...:D

I wish they had UXGA T6_ ThinkPads in 14", I don't like the 15" form factor. Also I want another X200 tablet with multi-touch.

    Here is my burger:

    From top to bottom:

    R50e (my secondary machine, picked up for just 40 € :p )

T420 (not mine, but without it there would be no meat on my burger  )

L520 (my primary machine, just love it since october 2011, maybe I will sell it 2013 and upgrade to a possible L540  )

The most stable from them is the T420, followed by the L520. The R50e is less stable than the L520.

What do you have in the 14 and under category? I actually like the overall feel of the r60 better than that of the x200, so I'm leaning more towards another r50 (14 inch) with the x1400 (if that exist).

You guys with more than one Thinkpad, just don't know how lucky you are.

Ha as Commander Wolf will tell you, quality > quantity, I've cut down from at once 7 ThinkPads just down to my X220 tablet and my X61 tablet. Anyone can buy 2000 T60's, doesn't mean they are good, though I would love a good T60p with SXGA+ or UXGA.

I have several X60 tablets with SXGA+ LCDs, and a custom T400. All other "extras" are 15" IPS, be it SXGA+ or UXGA.

As for the R50, that generation shipped with ATi 7500/9000 graphics. X1400 belongs to the R60 series.

Oh my, I sometimes just don't know or care to know what I am saying. :(

    Yes, I meant the r60!

    @Tsunade_Hime

    I hear ya! :)

I didn't expect too much from this r60 that I picked up for $40, but I'm truly loving it! I do prefer it over the x200T that I once owned and loved! I do remember the graphics problems some of the T6x series models have/had, does that also include the r6x models? I'm more so a fan of 14 inch screens than 12, or I would just buy a nice x200 or x220.

GPU problems were plaguing T61/p and R61 with nVidia graphics.

You will see failures related to VRAM corruption on ATi-based T60/p, R60 and Z61m but that's an exception rather than the norm.

That's easy when one is young and single.

I'm married to a ThinkPad buff and have kids who have picked up the same bug from their parents...

For this household, owning 7 ThinkPads would be cutting it down to the barest of necessities...

    It is a W700/701ds...

    @lead_org,
wow, thats a collection! Maybe not the biggest ThinkPad collection I have seen, but surely the most expensive, wit a W70xds, X1 and X1 Carbon and several X-Series Tablets.

We have a similar thread in our German forum (But not "ThinkPad burger", the title is "Show your ThinkPad collection"). The biggest collection which I have seen is this one (45 ThinkPads!):
    mornsgrans-collection.jpg
It is from the user "Mornsgrans". But it is not as expensive as your collection, lead_org, because he has mainly old ThinkPads.

Yea, same here. My burger used to be impressive but I stopped eating Big Macs and went organic.

The T60p with the 15" Flexview is still a marvel though.

No argument from me on that one...

Heck, my A31p is a marvel squared...it's an eleven-year-old machine that is still perfectly usable as long as one sticks with XP and understands the limitations of the platform. Posting from it right now...and its FlexView is still drop-dead-gorgeous...

If you like the T6x series I'm certain that you'll find my latest FrankenPad project interesting...pics will be up in a couple of days...stay tuned...:D

    Growing... :D

51 now, + a probably dead T60p wide and waiting for another one tomorrow (model unknown, the seller just said it's a Thinkpad and from the blurry pics looks like an X2x).

I think Morgans collection did also grew quite a bit since... :)
