    Hi,

Here in Australia we have a T61 model (646069M) that comes with a 9 cell battery.

I know that the 4 cell is flush with the unit and the 6 cell protrudes, but Im wondering how big the 9 cell is.

Anyone have any info on this?

    Thanks

The 9 cell battery sticks out about 2cm from the back of the laptop.

I got my T61 this morning, and on the first charge, Windows was reporting 5:10 of battery life using the 9 cell battery.

yup - 15"...that was only the first full charge as well...I expect the time to increase after 2 or 3 full charges and discharges of the battery...

Well, the initial few times make sure to fully charge then discharge it completly before the next charge. This will ensure that you get the full potential out of the battery.

    thanks for the responses.

I guess I can live with the 2cm protrusion and it doesn't seem to stick out that much over the 6 cell anyway.

from my discussions with a knowledgeable Lenovo rep, im of the understanding that the 9 cell provides at least 1/3 more battery power than the 6 cell.

Yeah, pictures please of the 15.4 inch T61!

Is the bezel off centered like the 14.1 version?

As per the Lenovo rep on a 15.4" T61 the 9 cell weighs .26 kgs more than a 6 cell.

Is it possible for you to post up the exact Length, Depth (with and w/out the 9 cell battery), and Thickness of your 15.4" machine? There's no dimensions available anywhere.

    WxDxH (INCHES): 14 x 10 x 1 5/16th

    WXDXH (with battery protruding) 14 X 11 X 1 5/16th

The battery adds just under 1 inch tpo the depth.

    Thanks for the dimensions.

So the notebook alone is only 10" depth. Looks like all the specs are the same as the T60, except for the increased thickness.

I was thinking the battery would add only 1/2" at most. 3/4" to 1" is quite a bit of added depth.

Is the lcd bezel off centered like the 14" model?

the LCD is technically off centre I suppose...but it's so negligable that I asked a few people to use the laptop for a couple of minutes and tell me if anythign was unusual or weird and none of them noticed the screen was off centre.

As someone pointed out here before..when you're using the laptop you're looking AT the screen, not around the screen!
