My last Thinkpad was the T60p. I recall that there were two manufacturers for that model's keyboard, and one of them was terrible. What is the current status on the keyboards for Thinkpad W700 model units? Are they like the keyboards of yore? Or are they flexy and hand tiring?

    Thanks for any input.

You can call one of them terrible but most keyboards out there are worse in comparison. :)

True, by comparison to the drek I played with at Staples, the T6Xp keyboard (the bad one) is pure joy :)

Guess you have no thoughts on the W700 though? Or pointers to them?

the w700 use the same keyboard as the T61, so they are interchangeable.

Which one? The good one or the bad one? Or are they still using both? And does that mean I could order the good one if I end up with the bad one?

And what about the "flex" issues found in the T500. Are those present in the W700 at all? Presume that is more to do with chassis build than the keyboard?

i had a W700 and the keyboard was solid.   the chassis has so much reinforcement underneath that it doesn't matter if you have the new or old design keyboard.
