So...should I wait out for another sale? I need the computer by early September.

Buy the SSD on your own and if you do the T420, look at the reviews for the Nvidia dGPU and compare them to the iGPU. There isn't a huge difference between them.

I've considered purchasing the SSD on my own...but I'm not nearly technical enough to install it on my own :S

If you're in the US, those prices are far too high, even considering the SSD. Tips to lower price: if you are a student, try the student discount website. Buy the SSD separately and install it. Also, wait for the common coupons from Lenovo.

Those are the student prices, haha.

Common coupons? Are they going to be better than the current JULY4TH coupon? And will they be out before early September?

Oh and if you didn't notice...the 3 year basic warranty is also factored into the price.

You can save an extra 100 using the B&N site:

    T420:

I would still recommend dropping the dGPU and also going with Home over Pro unless you need specific features in Pro.
