Hello. I received my X230 last week and I really loved it right out of the box (a miniature copy of my T520 :) ). However, as soon as I powered it on, I noticed a cluster of stuck/bright pixels (white on black background). I sent it back for a refund and ordered a replacement.

I am wondering how common defective pixels are in the IPS screen. Was I just unlucky to get one with stuck pixels or are they a common occurrence? Did your have a dead/stuck pixel?

    Thanks.

I have the same configuration as you except the WiFi card is the Intel Single-Band one and mine is in the process of being delivered as well. That sucks that you had that experience.

BTW, I recommend you consider an mSATA SSD and keep the HDD or replace the HDD to save money.

Sad to hear this. If this happens to me I'll honestly be insanely mad. First the fail to cancel my order even though I called them immediately (first hour they opened) and then if there are any defects it will just push me over the top.

When they ask you to return the old one, do you ship it to a facility they have in the states or back to China or wherever they're located?

My X230(ips) has partially green/white stuck pixel on the screen. On black wallpaper sometimes its white or black. If I open My computer or Firefox, pixel changes color to green. Can't send it back, because I have owned it over a month and Lenovo warranty requires 5 or more defective pixels. When I have more money, I will buy new panel.

I don't know about Finland, but here in the US, three or more dead pixels on a ThinkPad qualifies you for a screen replacement.

I've never even seen a stuck or dead pixel, fortunately, and I had to google what such a thing looks like. But if I ever ran into a stuck pixel I'd probably try something like this:

5 Ways To Fix A Stuck Pixel On Your Screen

That stuff is from back in 2008 and for Win XP, but there might be some useful things there or at least an idea of what to do. If you have a dead pixel, well good luck to you.

No stuck pixels on my x230t laptop...last laptop I had developed a whole cluster of pixels about two years in and frankly I didn't notice it much, though about a year later the pixel cluster began to grow until it drove me nuts.

No dead/stuck pixels on my Tablet version either. I'd think it would be a lot more annoying if it were in the middle of the screen. I had computers with a single stuck pixel near the edge and I ended up being okay with it after a short period of annoyance.

Thanks for the responses. The stuck pixels on mine were close to the center of the screen and I wouldn't be able to tolerate them (they popped on any dark background :().

I hope the replacement, which is arriving on Wednesday, won't have any problems. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I would strongly advise against anything that isn't software that flashes different patterns very fast. You are more likely to damage the screen than help it by pressing on it. If you have a brand new machine with stuck pixels, they may go away after a few days of use. If not, try arranging for an exchange or warranty replacement of the LCD.

There is a tendency of some X220 panels to develop white blotches, they look like pressure spots but aren't: http://forum.notebookreview.com/lenovo-ibm/579414-bright-pressure-spot-x220-lcd.html and http://forum.notebookreview.com/lenovo-ibm/645382-lenovo-x220-screen-upgrade-2.html#post8316649
