Hi, i am just torn between the two choices, i can't wait for long lenovo waiting times and for preconfigured laptops i got to make a choice. Is WXGA screen really dull?

I believe the + means dual backlighting, how much of a difference that makes is based on the screen manufacturer. I've seen some that are almost twice as bright as a standard WXGA and some that I couldn't notice any difference. The plain WXGA is fine though and uses less battery life.

The WXGA+(1440x900) screen is 200 nits while the WXGA(1280x800) is 185 nits so the the WXGA+ screen is slightly brighter.

    No. "+" means higher resolution.

some screens with stated lower brightness seems to be brighter (or the same level) than others with stated higher brightnes. when difference is 15 nits it really depends on manufacturer.

I would say - focus more on screen resolution - is it text on WXGA+ to small for you or is it ok....

I don't know is it to small or not... I'm currently using 15.4" 1280x800 and it is good. I'm not from US so I can't see difference. but I think that I will go with WXGA+ because I think that is better screen. Can't find review with WXGA...

you can allways go to computer store to test WXGA+ resolution - just ask sales assistant to show you computer with 14.1" WXGA/WXGA+, or 15.4" WXGA/WXGA+/WSXGA+/whatever.

EDIT: BTW I wanted 15.4 with WXGA, but there was no such preconfigured model with required specs and WXGA, so I sacrificed my eyes for better specs :)
I feel, that the best resolution for 15.4 screen is WXGA+ (which apple uses). Some people go with 15.4 and WUXGA, but that is just crazy (unless your screen is 5cm [~2inches] away from your nose)...

No, it would be a little smaller with 1440x900 and normal 96 DPI compare to standard 1280x800 and 96 DPI.

You can adjust DPI in Display Properties exactly to make the things bigger in a high resolution (because otherwise they would be too small). For example, my resolution is 1600X1200 with 120 DPI (96 DPI would be uncomfortably small).

icons bigger on 14.1" 1440x900, smaller on 15.4" 1680x1050 if looking 1680x1050, every thing smaller then on 15.4" 1280x800

It's easier if you fix something before compare ^_^"
For same screen size and same DPI, the view is as smaller as higher the resolution. Alternatively, for the same resolution, the view is as smaller as smaller the screen size and/or the DPI.
