I have a Z61m with the Advanced Mini Dock. Most of the time if I undock to go to a meeting and come back the unit shuts down when I redock it. Not a graceful shutdown but a complete power loss. I called support to find out what's up only to be told that Hot Docking is not supported with the Advanced Mini Dock (or any dock with a key they say). I think that's bogus. It's not mentioned anywhere on their website or in the documentation. The documentation says hot docking works. The support guy said the documentation could be wrong. Some times it does work, some times it doesn't. Does anyone know the real story?

It certainly won't work if you have a video card installed in the dock..PCIe and hot swapping don't go well together. It may be that they made hot docking completely non functional on that model because of the PCIe slot.

The advanced mini-dock has a PCI-e slot? Where?

It does not, the Advanced Dock does.

Sorry for the confusion, I wasn't sure, so I probably should have kept my mouth shut. :(

I never experience power loss when hot dock and undock my T60 on the advanced mini dock. I do that almost everyday, only the screen setting changes occasionally.
