I had to pass this on, since I took advantage of it myself.

NewEgg has a coupon going on through 6/22 (or until funds run out) for $10% off any hard drive up to $10. The code is EMCHDD10A and you need to be a newsletter subscriber (so sign up).

My Scorpio Blue 500GB is now on order, $80.99 with free shipping. Can't beat that price with a big stick. Figured I'd share it with the Lenovo forum gang before anyone else.

Does this apply to desktop hard drives as well?

I'm considering buying a 1.5 or 2 TB WD GP drive for media storage on my desktop. If this coupon applies, I would probably order it now.

Scorpio Blue is 5400rpm. Scorpio Black is 7200rpm.

The Scorpio blue is 5400rpm, the Scorpio Black (which I didn't order) is 7200rpm, and qualifies as well. Currently, the highest capacity Scorpio Black is 320GB. The only 7200rpm 500GB drive on the market is Seagate's Momentus 7200.4, though that should change.

I'd rather have quiet and low-power. The Blue recently received high remarks from The Tech Report, and its high platter density should keep performance decent. It beat or equaled the 500GB Seagate 7200.4 in quite a few tests.

With my T61, I went from a Fujitsu 5400rpm to a Seagate Momentus 7200.4. Not only did I not see a tangible speed increase, battery life took a huge drop. It could just be that Seagate did a lousy job, but I don't want to deal with that again, and with 4GB of RAM, I should have adequate allocation for the OS system cache.

One thing I did not know until after ordering --only the Scorpio Black drives have built-in free-fall sensors, the Blue line does not. However, I've never been clumsy with my laptops, and I have a great backpack to keep it safe.

Thanks for the tip. Was not thinking about getting a bigger HDD but may not can pass it up. Not to get completely off topic but could someone recommend a reliable enclosure that I could place my old HDD from my T400. I could also place it ultrabay adapter but would like to have another option also and thanks.

make sure you have a bing account (can be from any of microsofts accounts), also register that account as a cashback account, it should ask you for confirmation and etc.

when you are signed up, search "newegg" in bing.com, at the top there should be an ad banner highlighted in yellow (make sure adblock is off if you are on FF).

next to the banner will be a coin, click that and itll take you to newegg with the cashback cookie activated, after your purchase you can look in your cashback account and itll show the amount of money pending to be given back to you, this can take up to 60 days or sometimes it can be instant.

when your cashback is completed and not pending you can request to get it sent to you as a check, paypal or into your bank account.
