This probably has been asked, but I did do a search. I currently have 4GB ram running on Vista 32bit, according to the “Clean Install Guide” from this forum for Lenovo/IBM computers it states that 64bit uses the same activation code as the 64 so OS wise I just need to order the anytime upgrade disc. QUESTION STARTS HERE: My question is if I run Vista 64 has as a host, am I able to run Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 running 32bit Windows Operating System (Windows 2000 Pro)?
    Thanks

Hey integra, I recently succesfully installed XP virtually on my machine with VirtualBox. From what I hear VirtualPC 2007 will work, or VMWare Workstation (but not VMWare server...at least I couldn't figure it out).

Yes, you could run a 32-bit OS (Windows 2000, etc.) using the Virtual PC 2007 64-bit install from a 64-bit host.

Download both 32-bit and 64-bit installations

It's a good way to run 32-bit applications that aren't supported on your 64-bit host operating system. Just install WinXP or W2K and then you can run stuff there.

BTW, I think you can't run a 64-bit guest operating system on a 32-bit host. If I'm wrong, I'd like to know.

You can use VMware Workstation or Player to run a 64-bit guest OS on a 32-bit host. You just need a processor with VT extensions. I was doing that earlier today at work.

Virtual PC doesnt allow you to create 64bit virtual machines, so theres no way to testdrive a 64bit OS unless you do a real isntall, thus rendering VP useless. it doesnt matter if the host is 32 or 64, the guest can only be 32 bit.

Get VMWare workstation. Also, VirtualBox 2.1 (free) will allow a 64-bit guest on a 32-bit host.
