After a couple of weeks, it seems that a horizontal mark has been left on my palmrest by the LCD bezel, but it's only visible in direct light.. I guess it's not a huge deal really (considering that it's a badass notebook in almost every other respect :p), but I was just wondering if anybody else with an X200 has this problem? It seems to me that the mark comes from the edge of the bezel right at the top of the screen.

Ya I have it. I don't really care. But it is probably from pressing down on the lid.

I have a T400 with this problem.... I brought this up in a thread or two but nobody seemed to have it as well.

On my T400, the line goes almost all the way across horizontally, right under the touchpad. A similar line exists in between the thinkvantage and power button (on the keyboard).

I tried wiping them off (with alcohol wipes and such), but they seem permanent. Odd that this happens... seems like a simple design problem.

Oh well, I guess it's just another cosmetic issue... like the paint peeling off the laptop corners after just a month.

zachman: did you notice any gap between your lcd panel and the bezel at the top edge?

Surprisingly... no. It seems flush with the screen just as it should be.

edit: Yes I can stick a piece of paper into it.... but it doesn't seem like an abnormally large gap.

Have it on my X300 too and I've mentioned it before. Thinkpads have very poor finishing (rubber paint that rubs off), so it's hardly surprising and according to the support reps, this is normal for a Thinkpad. They need to make them scratch-proof like HP.

I think that is another issue...where they have space between where the LCD is seated inside the bezel casing.

Ok I can stick a piece of paper in there too...I hardly see it as an issue.

I don't know what exactly is happening to you guys, but you could look into something like the shaggymac screen protector.

The paint has a tendency to rub off of the corners, but other than that it is very durable. It bothered me the first time i put a tiny scratch into it, but it conceals them surprisingly well, and after 3 years, my t43 hardly looks any different than my new x200. It's also nice and grippy, making it easy to carry with one hand.
