I purchesed an S-video cable and hooked the N1oo to my Tv (regular one - not an LCD).
    The results are awful !!!
U cant read a word document if your life dependent on it.

So, dont try this at home !!!

    S-video = bad quality
    regular TV = bad quality

s-video + regular TV = what were you thinking?

Standard definition TV's have only 640x480 resolution. Of course quality is going to be bad, what did you expect?

Well - it was in this forum that the advice to do so was born !!!
I know nothing about connections, but I repeatedly askes here, and was told that it would be fine. So went out and bought myself an S-video cable.
That said, what is the optimal connection though ? hooking the N100 to a LCD Tv ???

The optimal connection is through a normal PC monitor.

Well, S-video to regular TV is "fine" ... you do get the picture. But I've learned that if you really want PC on TV, go LCD with VGA input. Any Samsung DLP (Even a few years old model) will have that hookup.

Or you can do what I do and have a PC dedicated to home theather (aka htpc) and use a projector to watch movies, use internet, etc... but I ramble.

If you really want good PC viewing on a TV, get a LCD, DLP or any other TV made recently (approx last 3 yrs)... that's good and you wouldn't need to mess with many cables, vga for video and audio cables.

    Well - I think I did.
I went to the Nvidia preferances, and did all sorts of arangments, but upon seeing the picture on the TV I understood that no matter what I will do, it (the Tv itself) dont have enough pixels to handle the task (ofcourse I am no genius).
Her's the thing - I dont want to hook my N100 to a Tv to watch movies, but to read Word documants !!! I am a law student and need to constently read verdicts (long ones). So I would so much prefer a big screen ! The abillity to open 2 documants at the same time (bigger surface) is a bonus !

So - I understand I need an LCD Tv with an RGB connection ??? and that will deliver ? I am interested in sitting fairly close to the screen, so pixels must be an issue, arn't they ?

While setting the cables this Q suddently poped into my head - how come a computer screen is 10 times better then a Tv ? why not buy, for example, the Apple 30" screen { http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APP....woa/wa/RSLID?mco=10F1701B&nclm=AppleDisplays } ??? I had the plessure of sitting infront of that screen (in the 5th Avenu apple store) and I was blown-away ! Why but a "Regular" LCD Tv when U can buy this wonderful screen ?

30" LCD TV can cost $300-$900 depending on brand and they have TV tuners built in (QAM in some cases)

This is $1800 and isn't a TV out of the box. But you are right, in most cases nowadays the TV is just a monitor cause we get the feed from cable/satelite boxes.

Big reason people don't in mainly cost and convinence

I plug my desktop to a 32 inch LCD TV and it works great... no reason for you laptop to not be able to do that...
