I've purchased items from ZZF and they've been just as good as NewEgg.com, which I've used for years.

I wouldn't pass just because it wasn't NewEgg. I've found that ClubIT.com and ZipZoomFly.com are both good alternatives if NewEgg's price isn't right. I also prefer how ClubIT.com and ZZF use FedEx for shipping. Rebates from them are also just as good as NewEgg. I also get charged sales tax from NewEgg.com but not the other two, so adding about 9% to everything hurts.

I'm very suprised about the low ratings for the last 6 months, even though I bought a bunch of stuff from them last November. I think that the lifetime ratings are more accurate of my experience.... but you can never know what any given transaction will be like.

That is a great price. I don't have any experience with ZZF.

I can't speak for the store, but I can speak for the Hitachi 7k200 drive. It's faster than my 400GB Seagate desktop drive.

Is this the fastest 7200rpm drive for laptops? Will the Active Protection system still work with this HDD?

What model is the 100 GB 7200rpm drive when customizing on Lenovo's website?

AFAIK, the 7K200 is the fastest mechanical laptop drive, just edging out the Seagate 7200 rpm, 200GB, which seems very comparable. I use the active protection for my 7k200. I have not experimented with the full disk encryption.

I also have/had the 7200, 100GB from Lenovo, it's a 7K100, and about 23% slower than the 7K200 according to Hitachi, and HDtune. It's slower because the data density is lower, more seeking, and a smaller buffer.

It seems that Lenovo's price for the 7k200 is about $140 over that of Tiger Direct.
