I am thing of buying a T43 with 15" screen that has 1600 x 1200 resolution. At that resolution, would the icons and font be very small? I am bent on buying T43 but some reviews don't sound very happy about screen. Am I to assume that a 1600 x 1200 wouldn't necessarily give sharper picture compared to a screen that is 1400 x 1050? Thanks.

I think that resolution would be a mistake, especially if you've never seen it before, things will be extremely small. The display is fine, it just gets knocked because most others are better. It's not that the display is bad.

I am ready to buy a T43 as well (#2687DDU), with the 1400 x 1050 resolution on a 15" screen. At that resolution, will the icons and font still be too small? I'm using the machine for general word processing, surfing, minor digital photo storing, etc. -- no significant intensive business applications or spreadsheets. All other spec's being equal, my other option is to go to a 14" screen at 1024 x 768 resolution (#187186U). Thoughts would be appreciated.

The screen is good but you should still see it yourself, maybe you feel tired when see it for a long time. Some of my friend bought a screen with 2048x1536 resolution and install on their t42 i don't know their feeling [:I]

1400 x 1050 is pretty comfortable, and with the 15" display you'll be able to fit quite a decent amount on the screen (a good thing). If you're not sure, I'd recommend going to an electronics retailer and finding a 15.4" screen notebook that has an SXGA screen and compare it to an XGA screen. Reading and viewing graphics is very comfortable on XGA, but if you're like me and love to have two windows open at the same time and put them next to each other for viewing then SXGA is really the way to go. If you just want one window open at a time and be able to read it really easily and then ALT-TAB to another window or mouse to it using the toolbar, then XGA is best. If you have any kind of vision problems then XGA is likely a better choice.

I have the SXGA+ screen. I do not view pages side by side, but I like it for the vertical resolution. When you are viewing webpages you don't have to scroll down as much to view the whole page.
