Its a hard noise to explain but I just turned it on for the first time since I got it and it makes a high pitched noise (only audible when its dead silent). ANd when I rock it back and forth slowly i can hear something moving, is it just the cd tray/hdd or something that moves a bit? I really need this for school and am hoping I dont have to RMA. Also ive seen very complicated/long guides to installing your own OS to a T500, cant you just simply install your own OS like any other machine and change to the gfx card in the bios, install a few drivers, and done?

You can save the ID and start from scratch with out the additional partitions which I use for disk data.

So basically I can just format and install a OS like on a desktop.

Cool thank you. Now what about the "loose part" inside and the slight whining.

Go into device manager and see what's missing. As for the ThinkVantage Tools, I only use Hard Drive Protection, Power Manager, UltraNav and the System Toolbox - AKA PC-Doctor. I don't have much use for the rest. Your results may vary.

Im assuming no one else has something "moving" inside when they tilt it from side to side?
