Hi, I've noticed a high pitched whining noise when I adjust the screen brightness. The noise is not noticeable unless you are in a quiet place. The noise will sound when the brightness is placed in the middle range levels. I don't know if it happens to every laptop or there is something wrong with mine... I've noticed that with my previous iphone and other devices.

Just requested replacement #2. The tech support told me that the laptop isn't suppose to make that kind of noise, suggested me to process for a return. If the 3rd machine fails I'll give up the ideapad line completely. Why couldn't lenovo hire some statisticians to work on their quality control? That way I'll have a job and they can save some money on replacing the computers they just sold.Good thing is that they have a pretty good CS team that handles the returns pretty well. Praying that the 3rd machine won't be a defect one. :D

I just checked it says: generic PnP monitor.

Sometimes, manufacturers use different LCDs even in the same laptop model, there are some utilities like HWiNFO64 that will allow you to find out the exact model.
