Hi,
Here's my problem: When my mouse (Logitech G7) is plugged in my laptop, windows is extremely slow. For example, I can't use the Taskbar because it doesn't click, I can't close applications, I can't change folder... It's like the CPU charge would be very high. So, the only thing I can do when it happens (every 2 minutes when the mouse is plugged) is to use the CTRL + ALT + DEL, open the Task Manager, close the Task Manager and it will work for maybe 1-2 minutes... When the Task manager is open, I see that the CPU Charge is decreasing, so it looks like it was high, but I can't see which process is high because I don't have the time to go in click on ''Show processes from all users'' and I see nothing abnormal in the processes displayed. When I unplug my mouse to use the Touch Pad, every thing is fine. I tried to install new Logitech mouse drivers, restore my system to last week when I didn't have the problem..., but I can't resolve the problem Anyone know what I could do ??

I had this exact problem with my notebook. The cpu usage would spike up to 100% and the whole thing would lock up. I even fresh installed vista because i thought i had a virus. The cause of it is a malfunctioning usb port. When i plugged my mouse into a different port it seemed to work just fine. if that wont work, try buying a new mouse. Mine is a logitech vx revolution. -
I tried every port on my machine, but it's all the same thing. I just noticed something: About 10 minutes ago, I heard the sound of a new hardware being connected (example: when you connect a USB flash memory or a webcam...). I was studying 10 feet away from my laptop, so I didn't plug anything and my mouse wasn't plugged. So, I returned to my laptop, plugged my mouse and ,right now, I can use my mouse and it looks like the problem is gone, but the same thing happened last night, and it restarted to bug some hours after this... It's really weird...

If you have Turbo Memory, try disabling it in the BIOS and see if the problem persists. You might do the same with the Active Protection System, temporarily at least. I think both of these features have been known to cause that "device connected" sound for no apparent reason sometimes.

Does it stop if you turn wireless off?

The mouse shouldn't effect it. It's a software problem.
