Does Lenovo install the hidden partition on the best location of the hard drive?

I don't need the extra space, but if I can boost boot times/load times, then it may be worth it.

The hidden partition is located at the beginning of the drive. I think this might be because the system boots from this partition.

Personally, I don't think deleting the hidden partition would be of significant benefit on its own. You'll have to remove the hidden partition, move your C partition, and repair the MBR to boot from C rather than the hidden partition.

On the other hand, I just wiped my HDD clean and installed Win7. If you are going to delete the hidden partition, I would wait until you also perform a HDD upgrade or clean OS installation.

Why? What you friend did, I would recommend, meaning a truly clean install. I would recommend wiping the two partitions and making them a part of the first. Partition Magic is what I used and it works.

While I back the clean install option, there is software (e.g., Acronis Disk Director) that lets you easily move partitions around, including moving the partition containing Windows to the front of a disk. I recently did this when I did a clean install of Vista only to find that I accidentally put the operating system on the second partition of my HDD instead of the first.
