My new T60, running WinXP Pro, has hibernate enabled in the its Power Settings and it works via Fn-F12 but when I try Start/Shutdown hibernate is not listed as an option (only Stand By, Turn Off or Restart). On my Dell E1505, running WinXP Home, show four options in its Turn Off Computer screen. Anyone know what's needed to get my T60 to do likewise? Thanks.

You should go to the power options and activate hibernation in the hibernate tab.

I did that already. The hibernate function does work (via Fn-F12 keystroke) but its not an option in the Turn Off Computer screen while my Dell does list it as an option.

Try holding down the shift key when you get to the shut down options: On my computer doing this changes the Standby to Hibernate.

That true for me too. But on my Dell it shows all four options, not just three out of four. Not a big deal but why not show all four all the time?

Google found this registry hack to show another button.

However, the lack of the hibernate button has never worried me since I set up my computers so that the sleep button (Fn+Esc) triggers hibernation, so I don't have to even visit the start menu. Does your computer have a sleep button?

Yes it does but that registry hack answers my question. Obviously Dell includes it on their laptops...makes you wonder why it's not a default in WinXP. And yes, I do have a sleep button that will do the trick as well. Thanks for info.
