Greetings,
Title explains it really; the screen on my x100e is no longer working, kinda. I can still see that the backlight is still working. But there is nothing else other than the black screen. It is blank from the second the screen turns "on." Any solutions? It was working just fine for class, popped her into my bag and went home. Didn't hit anything or drop it, etc. It was nasty cold out though, but it was in my backpack.
So far I have done/tried:
A different hard drive: Nothing
Cold boot: Nothing (I don't know if I did that right though. I took out the battery and power cord and held the power button for 1 minute. If Thinkpads have a special way of cold booting, by all means let me know.)
External monitor: Couldn't connect to it. Not sure why. Doesn't help that I can't see what is going on....
Yelling at it: Again, nothing.
I would rather not to have to send it in and I love tearing things apart.(As long as I don't void my warranty.)

A different hard drive isn't going to fix your screen, just so you know.
A cold boot is simply turning the computer on again after it has been off.
Yelling at it isn't good enough; you have to beat it (LOL! JK!)
You say you've tried an external monitor. What do you mean exactly that you couldn't connect it? Did you not have a port to plug your monitor into or do you mean you don't know how to switch displays logically? -
Some people have solved this kind of problem by the cold boot: Laptop screen blank when switched on [Solved]
The monitor won't respond to it. It acts like the laptop isn't even there. -
The reason I questioned the hard drive is because usually you can see the machine POST before it gets into the OS like you would see your Dell logo or the memory count or something.
Can you hear your machine get into Windows if you leave it on? Do you notice any hard drive activity at all when you turn it on? -
It seems to running fine otherwise. I did put it to sleep and when I pressed enter when I opened it, it made the Windows chime.

There is usually a button or switch that turns off the screen when the lid is closed. Try checking the sleep button or switch. If it's internal then you might have to get into it.
If you were willing to take it apart at all, you could also take it apart at the LCD screen and get to the back of the LCD where the cable connects and disconnect & reconnect it. If that doesn't do it you might try to find where it connects internally in the notebook and re-seat that connector, too. That usually does the trick for me when I see a blank screen on most laptops.
Also, if you want to try the monitor again try finding the fn+ combo keys to switch amongst displays. For all I know that could even be the problem if it go switched somehow. -
I would highly consider sending it in for warranty repair if it's still covered. Have you tried hitting Fn+F7 to switch displays to the external monitor(I'm assuming it's that combination on the X100e)? If it works you likely have an LCD issue; if not you likely have a GPU/motherboard issue of some sort.

It only powers on now. It doesn't respond to the lid closing or any other device.
I guess I'll send it in. I just hope Lenovo's repair is better than HP's.(Coming back with more problems than what it had to begin with.)
Hey! My screen is blank. Why? (x100e)
