I am guessing a software issue.
No word are shown in "control panel" and
"my computer" when choosing this display (see picture).
Why ? where did the letters go ?
    Anyone ?

Under "View" select "Tiles" then reselect "Thumbnails". See if you get back your text. Have you tried a reboot?

Are you running Windows 95 or Windows XP??? If it's XP switch your Control Panel view back to Category View then back to Classic View. See if that brings back your text.

Tried your advices, but its a no go !!!
    I am running XP.
Not sure I understand what's a "classic view", but I did do a reboot and switched views.
The weird thing is that if I choose other views (not thumbnails) then the letters does appear (see pic added).
    What gives ?
    THANKS!

Ok your screen thumbnail is mirrored so it's hard to tell. It also looks like your running Windows XP in the classic look a.k.a. Windows 95 look.

I was referring to the control panel in XP and in the top left corner there's a link to switch between category or classic view. You might try changing your screen resolution and see if that helps. You could also find out what font pitch your icons are set at.

Did you try putting it on "icon" view? It looks like it's on "tiles" view.
