    Hi,

I don't know what happened. I installed Windwos 7 in a mSATA on my new T420. I moved the user file to HDD, because I have very limited space in my mSATA. For some reasons (not important), I removed my HDD. I then installed my HDD back to my computer. However, I found that I cannot log into Windows because "user profile not found". It seems that it does not recognize the HDD anymore, even after brief removal. Any ideas how to help solving the problems?

(I am sure the HDD was properly installed because I can see it in BIOS.)

    Thanks.

    Yee Kan

I would connect that HDD to another computer and run chkdsk /r on it.

I thought with the mSATA it basically combines with your existing HD and the speed si optimized by moving the files are read frequently to the msate while keeping the rest on the HDD? Maybe I'm thinking of the enhanced experience 2.0.

Did you hack the registry before moving your User directory? You can't just move it, or that happens. It's like if you installed a program, then moved your program folder to a different location. Your shortcuts will no longer work. You have to point Windows to it so it knows where to load all your data.

I followed an online instruction on how to do that and I think I did change the registry (hopefully i changed all of them.) Yup, I think this might be the reason -- it is not that the HDD was removed, but the registry was not probably set. Need to reinstall everything :-(

Did you back up your registry before modifying it...?
