I usually use ThinkVantage Access Connections to manage my wireless connections; however, I ended up asking Windows Wireless Service to connect once. Now, every time I boot, Windows Wireless automatically connects to any internet that it can find rather than letting ThinkVantage connect to the ones that I've saved. Is there any way to disable Windows Wireless Service's autoconnect?

You could disable the windows wirless configuration service, its called wireless zero configuration in XP. You can reach it by going start>run> type services.msc in the run box. Then scroll down to the wireless zero and stop it if its running and put it on manual, instead of automatic.

Thanks, but I forgot to mention I'm running Vista. I've tried disabling WLAN Autoconfig in services.msc, but that cut out my internet completely.

I was having problems with access connections competing with windows wireless. I connect to different 802.1x networks at work and school and then a WPA network at home and it just wasn't working. I ended up removing access connections and using windows.

You could try going to the network and sharing center > click on manage wireless networks in the left column and delete the network that is there. Then thinkvantage should be able to regain control.

I think that did the trick. Thanks! If they reappear there, I think there is an option to disable automatic connection under Manage Wireless Networks that should also work. :)
