Hi, was just looking for some advice, I got a Lenovo Ideapad 510 for xmas, it’s the Intel i5, 8gb, 1TB Sata HDD, Nvidia Geforce graphics etc..

I was thinking of maybe upgrading the hard drive to an SSD drive, in particular the Crucial MX300 525GB 2.5" Sata SSD drive seems an idea one that I have seen on offer a lot.

From what I have read online regarding my laptop I get the impression I would need to do a direct swap with my current 1TB drive as there isn't a spare slot, is that right? I have read if I did want to keep both I would have to swap the DVDRW and use a caddy to use in that slot?

Ideally I would want to keep both, but if it meant taking my DVDRW out, then I would rather keep that and just do a direct swap and take the 1TB drive out.

Would I see a lot of speed increase by doing this, I am assuming I would?

The only other question I have is regarding getting my drive copied onto the SSD, I know if you have a blank drive and turn the laptop on it starts and boots straight to the setup menu where you can either boot from a usb drive / dvd etc.. or is the cyberlink onekey recovery also built into the boot menu, so if I do a full backup or my drive with that, would I then on a blank ssd drive be able to recovery my whole drive onto the new drive using onekey?

    Regards

    James.
