I have removed the screw from DIMM slot area in the back but am having trouble removing the screen. The manual says press the keyboard behind the power button (which on T20 is the F8 button) & push towards the screen & the back will pop up. Also, tried as per the T410 service video.

The buttons press down but do not feel any play with the keyboard (i.e it is stiff). Affraid to push harder that it may break something...

    Will removing the palmrest help?

Trying to upgrade the 2nd DIMM

    Appreciate any help

    TIA

When I did this I placed the edge of my two thumbs next to the bezel where the volume and power keys are and pushed towards the screen with a bit of pressure and the keyboard end where the trackpoint buttons are will eventually poke up.

The T420 keyboard are quite tough so it should be able to handle a bit more pressure but if its really stuck then don't over do it. Bit surprised since I always found putting the keyboard back in is a lot more trickier than taking it out in my experience.

I agree with Hearst. Removing a T420 keyboard for the first time is a little tricky; it required more pressure than I expected.

It's difficult to explain with words like "be firm --but be gentle at the same time." :)

    Thanks all.

I did it. Firm pressure displaces the keyboard forward (so slight, it was easy to miss) used a screwdriver to pop the back end up ....
