I'm a little flustered by what I've done because none of it wants to work completely. I am trying to install a GPT partition and install Windows 8 on the SSD the computer comes with.
So I booted into my Windows 8 Installation USB media, went into diskpart and formatted/converted to GPT, and Windows didn't separate the SSD from the HDD. I also tried downloading and burning the One Key Recovery updated ISO, but that doesn't work. Fast forward to right now, after many formats and installations, I have Windows 8 installed back on a MBR partition on the 750GB HDD, but it won't recognize or acknowledge the SSD at all, and no other partitions except removeable storage. Even when I boot into the Windows 8 Install disk, or bios, or OneKey recovery ISO, the only disk I can see is still the 750GB HDD.
Not really sure what to do at this point, none of the guides have helped because they say use the OneKey partition/burned iso to separate the drives, but the partition is gone and the burned iso just says a bunch of commands aren't found or unsupported filesystem (NTFS). Other guides say that using software like "Rufus" ISO-to-USB to burn the Windows ISO and the OneKey ISO with the GPT partition scheme selected, but those didn't help either.
Can anyone tell me if I'm missing anything? If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it.
EDIT: The OneKey ISO gives me the error that my drive is in an unsupported file system. It's NTFS, I guess it needs to be FAT32? And the current guide I'm trying to follow is here:

Also, my Y580 is the version that came with Windows 7.

if you have windows 8 working fine on your 750gb HDD, why dont you just clone that to your SSD?
