    Hi!

I'm looking to get either an edge 420 or 420s. The only reason I'm considering the 420 is because it is upgradeable to i7-- How big of a difference in performance will I see between i5 and i7? Enough to get a 420 instead of a 420s?

I'm not too knowledgeable on the specifics with computers and laptops so I was looking to get some advice as to what aspects of my laptop I should upgrade and why?

I'm looking to spend no more than $1100.

    Thank you for the help!

    1) The difference between a dual core i5 and a dual core i7 is very slight. Unless you're pegging your CPU 100% often, you won't see much of a difference.

    2) Are you talking about when ordering or once you have the laptop? Most people get 4Gb of RAM as it is cheap and is usually more than needed. It's often easy to upgrade the RAM and it gets cheaper everyday. I wouldn't recommend getting a SSD when buying the laptop as you can upgrade in the future while saving yourself some more money.

What do you plan on using the laptop for? Other than the CPU, the laptops are quite different in their size and weight.
