I lost my on-screen visual volume control, those green bars that show up when you access volume up/down. Went to Lenovo Device Driver Support page, but couldn't find any reference to this driver or control. Can anybody suggest anything, please?

Have you tried using the ThinkVantage Software Installer or System Update 2.0?

It will list what Lenovo drivers and support s/w versions you have installed for EVERYTHING and if updates are available. You have the option of then selecting which drivers and support s/w (if any) to install/update.

It's cool - a one stop shop for all Lenovo support softwares (BIOS updates as well).

I remember Software Installer updated the on-screen volume for my mother-in-law's R52 a while ago (She/I wasn't having problems with it, nor did I see any difference after the update). It also updated her from Software Installer to System Update 2.0

The problem is that it will select every single driver, and I don't want to install everything. One thing I forgot to mention that my volume control disappeared after installing Spyware Doctor. Anyway, anybody else can suggest a specific driver responsible for this on-screen volume display?

    Glad you found it :)
Don't have the R52 here or would have been able to ID the driver for you.

I'm pretty sure you can deselect drivers with the Lenovo app, as I used that plus trimming XP services to really speed up the R52.
